The Chase has become one of ITV’s most beloved and longest-running quiz shows since its launch in 2009. The popular series has aired for 19 seasons, and has received a number of spin-offs along the way.
The franchise expanded again this summer with The Chase Around the World – boasting an international twist on the existing format. The show saw contestants solving puzzles in pairs to track down all six of the Chasers, who were hidden across the globe.
Once they’d found the legendary quizzers, the teams put their knowledge to the test in a head-to-head battle to win £100,000. However, rumours have been circulating over the future of the show following its first season, with The Daily Mail suggesting it won’t be returning.

In a statement provided to Digital Spy, a spokesperson for the series said: “With The Chase Around the World only having finished its linear broadcast just over two weeks ago, discussions are naturally still ongoing about a recommission at this time.
“It is untrue to say that The Chasers have been informed that a second series won’t be going ahead currently.”
This comes after Chaser Anne Hegerty recently praised the franchise, claiming it brings in “about £100m a year” altogether. Though the regular series has halted filming until 2027, Hegerty promised fans much more content to fill the gap.
“The Chase is only being frozen for a year, and there is a tonne of other stuff we are doing,” she explained in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy.

“We have just done The Chase Around the World. The Chase daytime will absolutely be back. We have tonnes of new shows in the can. We will not have to show any more repeats like we used to have [to].”
She added: “I know that New Zealand want to do another series [of The Chase], so it is a case if I could do that. I did the pilot series, and it went down well. I will take the New Zealand job if they offer it.”
The Chase airs on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
