A challenge to the legal basis of EU trade with Israel is to be launched at the European Parliament by Ireland South MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, co-signed by 26 senior Irish lawyers.

Ms Ní Mhurchú is set to present a formal petition to the European Parliament, on Wednesday, stating it will require a response from the European Commission on Israel’s compliance with the human rights clause (Article 2) of the EU-Israel Association Agreement and detail whether continued trade with Israel remains compatible with EU law.
