EPFO: Want to update your KYC information? Here’s how members can do it online using official portal

  • September 8, 2026

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made updating know-your-customer (KYC) information mandatory for all online PF claims, balance updates via passbook and other digital services.

The EPF is a government-backed, secure, long-term investment tool and retirement savings option for salaried individuals. The Ministry of Finance ratified 8.25% interest rate for EPF and voluntary PF (VPF) in FY26 for the third consecutive term.

Today, we take a look at how EPF members can update their KYC online using the retirement savings fund body’s official portal.

EPFO: Want to update your KYC? Here’s how…

Notably, the EPFO has made KYC mandatory for services such as withdrawal of funds, transfer of funds, and settlement claims. The process requires providing your Aadhaar number, PAN card, mobile number, and a bank account. While usually done by the employer, you can also complete the Aadhaar seeding using the Umang app or the EPFO’s official portal.

You can update your KYC on the EPFO portal with the following steps:

Complete e-Nomination process after KYC

Another mandatory process for your EPF account is naming your nominees. Notably, nomination for your EPFO account can only be completed on the portal after your KYC has been processed. Here’s how to complete this step:
