Omaha’s Midtown Crossing to recognize Rev. Livingston Wills with bronze statue
OMAHA, Neb. —
A new statue stands tall in Midtown Crossing, immortalizing Rev. Livingston Wills.
Wills is affectionately called the “Broom Man.”
He was a blind man who used to walk the streets selling brooms.
Sculptor John Lajba said he wanted to not only remember him but remember his impact on the city.
“I really wanted this to be more about how great people with disabilities are, and what they can do for our city,” Lajba said.
Wills died in 2008 at the age of 91.
The statue will be dedicated in his honor at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Turner Park.
