This Sunday (September 13), Lidl is releasing a batch of cookware that some may argue looks more expensive than its price tag suggests. Starting from £6.99, shoppers can pick up a selection of dishes that look similar to those from the high-end brand Le Creuset.
Lidl’s Silvercrest options start with small casserole dishes (£6.99 for two) and extend to larger sizes, including a set of three pots (£44.99 with Lidl Plus). Shoppers have several colour options to choose from when gathering a new set of cookware, just in time for the season when people tend to appreciate a hearty stew, curry, or casserole more often.
The Silvercrest 3.7L Cast Iron Casserole Dish – available in black, red and dark blue – costs £24.99 (without Lidl Plus). Described as “ideal for juicy and aromatic roasting, stewing or braising”, the durable dish uses the cooking juices that collect on the ridges inside the lid to form droplets that “continuously and evenly baste the food”.
Looking elsewhere online, it shares similarities to those of the Le Creuset Signature Cast Iron Shallow Casserole. Measuring at 22cm wide, the dish has similar features and appearance to Lidl’s, but costs over £120 more. Although Lidl’s is more affordable, it comes in fewer colour varieties than Le Creuset.
The biggest set includes two pots (4.2L and 2.9L), one pan (1.9L), one lid and four edge protectors for stacking, according to Lidl. The Cast Iron Casserole Dish Set (worth £49.99), described by Lidl as being “ideal for crispy roasts”, is suitable for all hob types – including induction.

Why are some items cheaper with Lidl Plus?
Lidl Plus is the budget supermarket’s loyalty scheme, similar to a Tesco Clubcard or Asda Rewards pot. There are often selected special deals on items in the Middle of Lidl with further discounts that are normal for account holders.
Someone with Lidl Plus could pay 10% less for some kitchen items that will be available in all stores from Sunday, September 13. It is free to sign up for the loyalty programme using Lidl’s free app available on Apple and Google devices.
