‘Broom Man’ statue dedication ceremony held at Turner Park
OMAHA, Neb. —
The designation ceremony for the new, bronze Broom Man statue was held on Wednesday at Turner Park.
The late Rev. Livingston Wills was an Omaha icon affectionately remembered by generations for walking the city’s streets to sell brooms.

He also spread the spirit of hard work, faith, kindness and unyielding optimism.
Dozens turned out to celebrate him, including Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr.
“Today, when you see this statue, you think of a man who could see without seeing, who represented the best of us. May this time and this statue remind us to truly see one another the way Rev. Wills did. As a neighbor, as a friend, as someone who just might be in the market for a sturdy broom,” Ewing said.
Wills died in 2008 at the age of 91.
