Samantha Morton’s new TV thriller Dirty has gotten an exciting update, with new filming pictures emerging. The Odyssey star was cast in the Prime Video show back in June, with the actor set to appear alongside Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor.

The show, which is from Hostage’s Matt Charman, focuses on trainee detective Eva Bennett (Dynevor) as she joins a new homicide investigation in Manchester, which is run by her fearsome and estranged mother Detective Chief Inspector Lois Mercer (Morton).

Eva then faces a conflict between notions of justice and family when she uncovers her mother’s crimes, while long-buried truths emerge.

Viewers can now get a first look at the two stars in character from the set, with Morton seen wearing a suit walking down the street as Lois. Dynevor, meanwhile, is seen in a glamorous dress wearing sunglasses as Eva.

Speaking previously about the project, Charman said (via Deadline): “I love the power and the volatility of these two women. There are no limits on what either of them is capable of, which makes the potential of every scene explosive.”

Morton gained new prominence recently for her scene-stealing turn as Circe in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which has become one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

Meanwhile, Morton recently claimed that River Queen director Vincent Ward mistook her for fellow actor Emily Watson on the set of the 2005 film.

“I went to New Zealand to do a movie and the director said, ‘We’re so excited to have you, Emily. I’ve loved you since you were in Breaking the Waves,'” claimed Morton during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

“I was like, ‘Are you joking?’ I said to the producer, ‘I’m Samantha. Does he know that I’m Samantha Morton?’ He said, ‘Don’t tell him. He thinks you’re Emily Watson.'”

Ward denied the claims, saying in response to Entertainment Weekly: “In fact, I had admired her work in a range of films including Minority Report, In America and others.”

“She is a very unique performer. It would be impossible to confuse her for anyone else, and I had pushed very hard to have her in the film even though it caused us some challenges,” he added.

Dirty will stream on Prime Video.
