It’s the week of early aughts reunions, and honestly, the nostalgia is what’s keeping us warm as the weather chills.
Beloved Gilmore Girls costars Lauren Graham and Melissa McCarthy came together last night at Variety’s Power of Women event in Los Angeles. And the moment was as meaningful and heartwarming as it was hilarious—because with these two around, the laughs just don’t stop.

Graham was all elegance in a layered asymmetric red gown from Heirlome, which she styled with black accessories. And in a twist of fate, McCarthy coordinated with her perfectly in a sparkly black Jenny Packham gown with beaded, transparent cape sleeves.
When the actors posed on their own, they exuded glamour and poise, but once they got together, it was all comedy. See for yourself:

Graham played the Lorelai Gilmore in the cult-classic series, while McCarthy played Sookie St. James, Stars Hollow’s top chef, and Lorelai’s best friend. The series ran for seven seasons, from 2000 to 2007.
But looking at Graham and McCarthy last night, it’s like nothing at all has changed.

Graham presented her longtime friend with her honoree award at the Beverly Hills, California, ceremony. McCarthy was celebrated specifically for her work with the Joyful Heart Foundation. Founded by fellow actor Mariska Hargitay, the organization focuses on healing, educating, and empowering survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse.
While Graham, and the entire audience, honored McCarthy, our lovely Sookie praised her longtime costar right back, reflecting on being “super green” when they started filming Gilmore Girls and relying on Graham, who taught her how to “wield power with grace and patience.” These two.
