As Chas, Liam and Victoria found out about Mackenzie, viewers questioned why their first move was to find John Sugden

Emmerdale viewers noticed a character “blunder” when Aaron Dingle woke up from his coma and shared a Mackenzie Boyd update.
In recent episodes, John brutally attacked Mackenzie Boyd after he discovered his link to Nate Robinson’s murder. Viewers were shocked that Mack made it out alive, but is currently being held captive by John in an underground bunker.
John found out that Aaron had a one-night stand with Robert before they left the village to stay in John’s childhood cottage, and since then his jealousy has been uncontrollable.
He drugged Aaron in the hopes of feeling “needed”, but as Aaron figured his husband out he also found Mack’s phone.
Going to search for his best friend, Aaron was instead met by John who proceeded to confess everything. Just as Aaron tried to convince John that he understood, Robert appeared at the scene.
Controlled by his jealousy, John called the police to frame Robert before throwing himself and Aaron off the edge of the gorge.
While Aaron was put in an induced coma, John woke up in hospital and hoped that his husband wouldn’t wake up to tell the truth.
As the village blamed Robert who sat in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, viewers were also worried for Mack as he was still trapped in the bunker.
During Wednesday’s (September 17) episode, John paid a visit to Aaron’s room and it appeared that he did something to his breathing tube.
Thinking he’d stopped Aaron from waking up – or maybe trying to get away before he did – John convinced Cain to drive him away from the scene.
None the wiser, Cain agreed and then Liam and Chas were called as the nurses announced Aaron was awake from his coma.
In the moments that followed, Aaron muttered: “John… John’s got Mackenzie” and a shocked Chas went to find John before Victoria informed her he’s discharged himself.

Realising that Robert may have been telling the truth, Victoria tried to catch up with John but it was too late.
Now that everyone knows about Mack thanks to Aaron, viewers noticed a slight blunder from the characters after the news was shared.
On a Reddit thread, u/emily-67 wrote: “Liam really annoyed me. Even if he is confused, why on Earth would his first words be Mack (without the additional context) when he was with Robert and John at the gorge.
“Also, call the police!! I’m hoping they do actually call them and that’s why the police are there when Cain announces he’s dropped off John, and not just a routine interview as the victim of a crime has woken up”.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), @carl_lewis_91 agreed: “So, Aaron tells Chas that John has Mack… and their first thought is to go and ask John” followed by laughing emojis.
Viewers on a Facebook page had the same train of thought, with one who penned: “How come no one has called the police yet and just decided to go straight to the culprit?”
