Three Kerry schools have been included in the latest round of the Safe Routes to School Programme.

The programme provides funding for improvements to slow traffic, and makes walking and cycling safer for children on their way to school.

Firies National School, Muire na Mainistreach National School, and Scartaglin National School have all now been added to the programme.

The programme is funded by the Department of Transport and is delivered in partnership with local authorities and the schools involved.

The addition of the three Kerry schools in this round has been welcomed by Minister for Children Norma Foley, her fellow Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill; and Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly.
