There might be a lot of noise off the pitch, but Celtic are getting the job done on the field of play.
That was proven when Brendan Rodgers’ side did their job by seeing off Partick Thistle in the League Cup quarter-final at Firhill Park.
Before the game, there was a lot of talk around Celtic’s summer signing, Sebastian Tounekti, after his debut performance against Kilmarnock the week before.
The Celtic winger, who is playing off the left, has brought an element of exciting and forward-thinking nature to the champions of Scotland, and that was further proven on Sunday against Partick Thistle.

Tounekti scored Celtic’s third goal of the game, and it was a thing of beauty, with Reo Hatate and Kelechi Iheanacho also involved.
Speaking on Premier Sports (21/09/25), Charlie Mulgrew labelled the 23-year-old as a ‘breath of fresh air’ after joining from Hammarby.
The former Celtic defender explained what the new kid on the block has brought to the table that has made him such a ‘shining light’ in the famous green and white colours.
“He has been a breath of fresh air,” stated Mulgrew.
“He was going by the fullback. He wants the ball constantly. Forward runs. Encouraging forward passes. Tounekti is doing that constantly. It’s really, really good to see.
“Tounekti man, what a shining light he is. Somebody Celtic needs, and he was a really bright spark.”
There has been nothing more clearer about Tounekti after win over Partick Thistle
To nobody’s surprise, just like at Rugby Park, Tounekti was named Man of the Match for the League Cup quarter-final.
This is a point many have been making, but Mulgrew was wondering what would have happened had Tounekti been signed for those Champions League qualifiers.
“Has there been one more clearer?” responded Mulgrew on Tounekti winning Man of the Match.
“He was brilliant for Celtic. The goal just after half-time was a touch of class. The way he comes inside. Doesn’t go backwards – plays a nice pass into the striker, goes again and gets it. It’s a great finish.
“He really is a great find for Celtic. They just wish they had signed him before the Kairat game.”
