The Reds had a record-breaking summer as they spent well over £300million on the likes of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak as they look to retain the Premier League title they won last year under Arne Slot.

The likes of Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez also joined, with the club aiming to build on the squad they had that challenged last year in a bid to compete on all fronts, including domestically.

And the Reds are always out for a bargain, too. They came within inches of completing a deal for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi on deadline day, but the Eagles pulled the plug on the £35m move.

The reason the fee would have been cheap is because Guehi is out of contract at the end of the season, which would allow him to move for free – and he can negotiate a deal in January with a foreign club.

And it’s the same situation for others who will find themselves to be free agents in the summer – including Dayot Upamecano, who, according to BILD, is of interest to Liverpool.
