Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 Makers Demand Multiple Shows Ahead Of Clash With Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari – Report
Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1, the prequel to Rishab Shetty’s 2022 film, is set to release in theatres on October 1. It will clash with the Bollywood film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan. While a screen tussle was expected, reports suggest that the makers of Kantara are demanding that no shows be shared with the competitor.
Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 Makers’ High Demands
According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers have requested multiple shows in single-screen, two-screen, and three-screen theatres, a move that has reportedly put distributors in a difficult position.
A source was quoted as saying, “AA Films, the distributors of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 have sent a mail to exhibitors, regarding their requirement of the shows. They have demanded that all shows in single-screens and 12 shows in two screen cinemas. The latter also amounts to all shows; they mention the same clearly in the mail to avoid any confusion. Shockingly, they have also asked for 18 shows in three-screen multiplexes, which, in other words, also amounts to each and every show. They are well aware that a film like Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is releasing alongside their flick. Yet, they have asked for such a showcasing.”
The source added that while it is common for distributors to demand 100% showcasing in single-screen and two-screen cinemas, this is a rare instance where a distributor has requested all shows in a three-screen cinema.
Exhibitors Upset?
Reportedly, many exhibitors have raised concerns about the arrangement. On condition of anonymity, one told the portal that they did not agree with what they considered an unreasonable demand.
While acknowledging that Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 is a highly anticipated film, they pointed out that Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari also seemed like an entertaining movie that would appeal to families and young audiences.
Will a solution emerge before the big clash? Stay tuned to find out.
