Listowel Gardaí rescued the young woman moments after she had managed to flee assailant’s car
Gardaí fear the cause of death may never be known
Gardaí in Kerry have arrested a man in connection with an investigation into the alleged abduction of a woman in Listowel in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The woman, aged in her early twenties, was walking home on the outskirts of the town at around 3.25am when a male pulled up alongside her in his car before dragging her into the vehicle and and driving off in the terrifying incident.
But the woman bravely managed to fight the man off, while getting out of the car and fleeing the scene.
Gardaí on patrol in the area at the time observed the woman running along the road and quickly came to her assistance.
A man in his early 20s was arrested for false imprisonment in connection with the investigation into the incident a short time later and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The Kerryman understands that neither party were known to each other.
