Selena Gomez’s wedding had the security of a state dinner — shuttled guests, blackout routes, and one best friend ducking under umbrellas. But when the bride finally posted her own photos of the big day, the internet got what it came for: a halter-neck gown by Ralph Lauren — the same American house Taylor Swift wore to announce her engagement to Travis Kelce. Cue the inevitable question: if Selena went Lauren for the aisle, will Taylor follow suit when it’s her turn?
For those who don’t know, Gomez married music producer Benny Blanco on Sept. 27 in Santa Barbara. They booked out El Encanto for guests, while Swift’s team kept her tucked away in a separate rental for safety reasons. It wasn’t exactly the first time Swift’s attendance shaped the vibe of a night out — she and Gomez have a habit of showing up in near-twin looks, whether it’s miniskirts with knee-high boots in New York or slipping into the same Reformation sweater on different coasts.

The dress itself was classic Gomez: strategic and teased well in advance, a very Swift move. For months she’s been slipping halter silhouettes into her rotation — at her bachelorette, a Rare Beauty event, even the 2025 Emmys — so the gown’s open back and embellished neckline landed less like a surprise and more like a finale.
And while the bride totally owned the spotlight, Swift’s name keeps sneaking into the frame. The pop star has leaned on Ralph Lauren for her own milestones, including the striped silk-blend dress she wore in those engagement photos with Kelce. She’s tapped the house for red-carpet halters, too. If Gomez trusted them for her biggest style bet, it’s not a stretch to imagine Swift doing the same.
Their matching style goes back years. In December 2023, they walked into a comedy show in side-by-side takes on the same outfit formula: Gomez in faux snakeskin, Swift in houndstooth. Days later, they doubled down in trench coats and sheer tights. They’ve even shared the same Reformation sweater. And Gomez has said the quiet part out loud — back in 2021, she admitted to Vogue, “When I was younger, Taylor inspired me a lot when it comes to wardrobe and stage outfits.”
Which is why Gomez’s aisle moment feels like more than a one-off. Fans are already reading it as foreshadowing — not proof, but a strong hint that when Swift’s turn comes, she might already have her designer picked out. After all, besties who wedding dress shop together, stay together.
