Advertising industry veteran Ian McShane has been named as chair of the Outdoor Media Association (OMA), a representative body for the out-of-home advertising segment in Ireland.

The none executive leadership post comes after he played a key role for the sector as chair of the Joint National Outdoor Research (JNOR) project, overseeing development of a new all-island audience measurement system that is due to launch next year.

OMA is is the industry body for Out of Home media companies, including Bauer Media Outdoor, Global, JCDecaux, PML Group, and Talon. Its role is to advocate and promote the sector and to provide industry insight into the medium.

Ian McShane is a former managing director and executive chairman of Behaviour & Attitudes (B&A) with a background in qualitative and quantitative research.

He is past chairman of the Association of Irish Market Research Organisations (AIMRO), and of the Research Committee of the Marketing Society Council and has won numerous awards for his research.

As chair of OMA he’ll will take on a more direct leadership role to support the industry’s growth, advocacy, and communication.

OMA Director, Aoibhín Lennon, said his leadership had a hugely positive impact through JNOR, and will be invaluable in driving the Out of Home industry forward.

Commenting on his new role, Ian McShane said he was honoured to take on the position.

“This is a pivotal time for the Out of Home industry, with continued growth and innovation shaping how advertisers connect with audiences. I look forward to working with the OMA board, its members, and the wider industry to build on recent successes and ensure Out of Home achieves its full potential in Ireland,” he said.
