Donegal County Council has confirmed it is investigating an alleged case of illegal dumping at a housing estate in the east of the county.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said the issue has been ongoing for 18 months.

“The waste is being dumped near my fence by individuals living at the house next door,” they said.

“It is an environmental hazard, a public health concern, and a source of distress to me and others in the community. I am now left with no option but to bring this issue to public attention, in the hope that someone in authority will take responsibility and act”.

A spokesperson for the council confirmed they are investigating the complaint.

“The complaint is currently under investigation, therefore no further comment can be made at this time”.
