Former NBCUniversal communications exec Allison Rawlings is heading to Disney Entertainment, where she’s been tapped as the new head of FX‘s publicity and communications department.

Rawlings replaces longtime FX publicity chief John Solberg, who announced in June that he would retire from the post after nearly 30 years. In her new gig, Rawlings will report to FX chairman John Landgraf. She’ll also have a dotted line report into Naomi Bulochnikov, Disney Entertainment Television & Direct-to-Consumer’s executive VP of communications.

“FX’s communications strategy has always been founded on a passionate support for the artists who make our brand their home, as well as an unwavering commitment to respect for the journalists who cover our industry,” Landgraf said in a statement. “With Allison at the helm of our publicity and communications team, we gain an admired leader whose experience, creativity and passion will continue and amplify FX’s work — and the integrity with which we pursue it.”

Landgraf and FX announced Rawlings’ hire on Wednesday. Per the news, Rawlings’ remit will include “the strategic direction and vision of the network’s publicity, communications and creative services functions,” including talent relations, awards, events and photo publicity. Her oversight includes consumer publicity campaigns for FX originals that are both streamed exclusively on Hulu and Disney+, and also run on the FX and FXX cable channels.

“FX has long been synonymous with exceptional entertainment,” Rawlings said. “After years of admiring them from afar, it’s a privilege and a thrill to be joining this incredible team.”

Rawlings, who joined NBCU in 2016, was most recently exec VP of communications for TV and streaming at NBCUniversal before departing earlier this year. In that position she oversaw communications strategy across NBC, Peacock and six cable networks. Last year, that included “repositioning Peacock leading up to and during the 2024 Paris Olympics.” She departed in March after a corporate restructuring saw her communications duties shift to New York.

Before NBCU, Rawlings was head of public relations at DreamWorks Animation, building the company’s first integrated communications function and guiding publicity for Oscar-nominated films such as “The Croods” and “How to Train Your Dragon 2.” She also helped launch DreamWorks Animation Television in 2013.

Earlier in her career, Rawlings focused on the nonprofit arts, serving as head of communications for the Geffen Playhouse, brand strategy for Center Theatre Group and publicity for the Hollywood Bowl. As part of the LA Philharmonic press team, she helped with the opening of Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2003.
