A man has died following a single vehicle crash in Galway early this morning.
The crash involved a motorcycle and occurred on the N65 at Kilcooley, Loughrea at around 6:25am on Friday morning, October 10.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 60s, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway, where he subsequently died.
The N65 road remains closed to traffic and gardai have issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision.
Gardai have issued a statement appealing for witnesses to the crash.
“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal single-vehicle road traffic incident in Galway on Friday, October 10,” a garda spokesperson said.
“The incident involving a motorcyclist occurred on the N65 at Kilcooley, Loughrea, at around 6:25am.
“The motorcyclist, a male in his 60s, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway, where he subsequently passed away.
“The N65 at Kilcooley is closed road pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6:00am and 6:45am on Friday 10th October 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Loughrea Garda Station on 091 842870, the Garda Confidential Line on “1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
Diversions remain in place and gardai are advising motorists to take alternative routes if possible.
