Nicola Dunseith says she was ‘disgusted’ after she and her husband arrived at the hotel for a booking only to find a sign saying it was closedMr & Mrs Jones hotel, Portstewart.
A woman who was meant to spend the night at a hotel in Ireland has voiced her fury after turning up for her booking only to discover it had shut its doors.
Nicola Dunseith had reserved and paid for a night at Portstewart hotel Me and Mrs Jones with her husband to mark her birthday and says she was stunned to rock up there on Saturday, October 11, to find a notice on the door stating it was closed for renovation work.
Chatting to BelfastLive, she revealed they had received no warning from the hotel that it would be shut during their stay and said she had not been able to get through to anyone from the establishment about what’s occurred.
She mentioned she’s been informed that the notices went up at the hotel on Friday and other punters had shown up clueless about this and have been forced to secure alternative accommodation at the last minute.

A notice on the hotel’s door states it is “entering into a refurbishment project for upgrades”, reports Belfast Live.
Nicola remarked: “We were looking forward to having a nice night away and couldn’t believe it when we arrived at the hotel and saw that it was closed. We have not heard a thing about this and have not been able to speak to anyone at the hotel to find out what is going on.
“It is disgusting the way that we have been treated and we have been told that there have been lots of other people turning up to the hotel only to find out that it is closed. Thankfully we managed to find somewhere else to stay the night and will try and get our room refunded through Booking.com but it is horrible that it is treating customers like this.”
The Me and Mrs Jones hotel has been asked to comment, but they haven’t responded at the time of publication.
