Two talented young Donegal performers took to the stage at the National Convention Centre in Dublin last weekend for the prestigious Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) concert.

Selected from thousands of young hopefuls nationwide, they represented not only their theatre group but also the entire Inishowen community with pride and passion.
The management team at Inish Theatre Group said they were delighted to see two of their young performers take to such a celebrated national stage.
“The standard of talent at the concert was absolutely phenomenal,” a spokesperson said.
“It’s a real testament to the dedication and skill of our young members that Lily May and Leighton were chosen. We’re incredibly proud of them and of all our students who continue to raise the bar for amateur theatre in Donegal.”
For the young stars and their families, the experience was truly unforgettable.
Maureen, Lily May’s mother, said: “It was such a proud moment seeing Lily May up there performing among some of the best young talent in Ireland. The whole experience has been inspiring for her — she’s come home full of excitement and motivation to keep doing what she loves.”
Avril, Leighton’s mother, added: “The AIMS Concert was an amazing opportunity for Leighton. To be selected from so many talented performers was an honour in itself, but the memories he’s made and the confidence he’s gained are priceless. We’re so grateful to the Inish Theatre Group for giving him this chance.”

Inish Theatre Group is now looking forward to its next major production — Beauty and the Beast, which will take place from 1st to 7th March 2026. With rehearsals set to begin next year, excitement is already building for what promises to be another spectacular show.
Both families expressed their gratitude to the Inish Theatre Group team for nurturing young local talent and to the people of Buncrana for their continued support.
“Without the encouragement of our community and the dedication of the Inish Theatre Group team, opportunities like this just wouldn’t be possible,” said Maureen & Avril. “It really shows what can be achieved when young people are supported in the arts.”
