Samsung has begun seeding the latest security fixes to Galaxy devices. As expected, the Galaxy S25 series is the first to receive the October 2025 security patch. The update is live in select Asian markets, with a global rollout expected in the coming days.

Galaxy S25 series receives Samsung’s October 2025 security update

Samsung usually starts rolling out the latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release) to eligible Galaxy devices early in the month. However, the One UI 8 update delayed this month’s release. While it bundled the October release with One UI 8 for some models, a dedicated security patch is finally starting to hit Galaxy devices.

The October 2025 security update is now available for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in Thailand and a few other countries in Asia. The devices are picking up firmware version BYIF, with the OTA package weighing over 560MB for the Ultra model. Samsung will soon release the update in other markets.

This release contains 34 security fixes, though not all of them apply to every Galaxy model. That’s the combined total of Android OS patches from Google and Galaxy vulnerability patches. The latest SMR is one of the smallest in recent memory, though it does patch a few high-severity security flaws.

As Samsung expands the Galaxy S25’s October 2025 update to global markets, it will simultaneously release the new security patch for other eligible models. The company will also roll out One UI 8 to more devices in the coming days. Users can check for updates from Settings > Software update > Download and install.

One UI 8 will be followed by One UI 8.5 in early 2026. The upcoming version is currently in the development phase, with a public beta release expected in late November. The Galaxy S26 series will ship with One UI 8.5 out of the box, with other models receiving the update later.
