Stephen Graham has announced an “era-defining” new project with the promise of being both “powerful and moving”. His latest venture is set to expand on the themes explored in his recent record-breaking series Adolescence.

The actor, who won three Primetime Emmy Awards for his work on the Netflix drama, has unveiled Letters to Our Sons, a book which will “continue the conversation” regarding toxic masculinity.

The project, which sees Graham work with psychology lecturer Orly Klein, will contain a collection of letters that have been written by fathers to their sons, with the contents set to cover “what it means to be a man”.

Letters to Our Sons sees Graham and Klein invite “fathers from all walks of life and from around the world to draw from their own personal experiences, and to share advice and anecdotes, regrets and joys with their sons.”

Billed as “a collection of honest, powerful and moving letters that will resonate everywhere”, the book is being published by Bloomsbury, with a tentative release window of October 2026.

“After the huge impact of Adolescence, I realised there was a greater need for communication between fathers and sons,” said Graham of the project. “There is arguably an even bigger disconnect than ever before.

“I would love to help create more opportunity for fathers to reach out to their sons and carry on the conversation. We want to hear from men of all ages, first-time fathers, absent fathers, fathers who’ve been there but never truly been there.

“[And also from] fathers who’ve lost and fathers who just want to find a way to say ‘I love you,’ to tell their sons what they mean to them and to talk openly about what it means to be a man.”

“When my son turned 13, I asked a range of male friends to write him a letter that explained what they believed made a good man, and what advice they would like to give him,” added Klein. “Some letters were funny, some were sad, most of them were thoughtful.”

“Stephen and I have a mutual friend,” Klein continued, “and when I told her about this, she put us in touch, because she knew there was an idea for a book there somewhere. She knew that Stephen and I shared the same commitment to tackling the issues facing young men today.”

Katy Follain, Head of Bloomsbury General, called the project a “pinch-me moment”, adding: “[This] has the potential to be a genuine social and cultural movement that goes beyond the book itself. Letters to Our Sons is going to help, and possibly save, lives.”

Letters to Our Sons will be published in October 2026. Adolescence is streaming now on Netflix.
