NEED TO KNOW

  • Saturday Night Live debuted its season 51 on Oct. 4, and new episodes premiere weekly

  • The SNL season 51 cast includes longtime repertory players and newer featured players

  • Several of the comedians are in relationships and marriages

It’s all laughs on Saturday Night Live, but the season 51 cast members are serious when it comes to their love lives.

For “Weekend Update” anchor Colin Jost, his relationship with Scarlett Johansson gave him a sense of security and direction. In his June 2020 memoir, A Very Punchable Face, he wrote about how the Avengers star changed his life, from his self-assuredness to his future aspirations.

“I’ve met someone I love and who I feel more comfortable with than I ever have before. I feel more confident committing to what I’m working on and standing by whatever I create, regardless of whether people like it or not,” Jost penned.

James Austin Johnson’s wife, Rebekah Lain, is also a grounding presence in his life. “@rebabka is the person who makes my life worth living,” he wrote on Instagram in October 2021. “She has literally the best heart of any person I’ve ever encountered, and is so rock solid as a partner and wife that just looking at pictures of her calms me down and makes me feel at home.”

From longtime stars Colin Jost and Kenan Thompson to newcomer Veronika Slowikowska and beyond, here’s everything to know about the real-life loves of the Saturday Night Live season 51 cast members.

Joining the double-digit club of SNL cast members, season 51 marks Mikey Day’s tenth season with the production. The comedian has been with his wife, Paula Christensen, even longer than his tenure at Studio 8H.

Though they tend to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, the actress shared a throwback photo of herself and Day kissing in 2012 for his birthday in March 2022.

“Still feel this way about you @mikeyfuntime,” Christensen wrote on Instagram.

The couple eloped on Christmas Eve in 2024 after 14 years together, and welcomed a son years before the milestone.

Michael Che returns to SNL for his twelfth season of hosting the “Weekend Update” alongside Jost. The TV personality doesn’t appear to be romantically linked to anyone.

During a May 2021 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the comedian said he has no interest in dating a famous person and would “much rather meet someone normal.”

“The sexiest thing a woman can ask me is ‘So, what do you do?’ That is beautiful. I just want a nice, boring librarian. Nobody famous,” Che added.

Season 51 marks Colin Jost’s 12th season hosting the “Weekend Update” segment on Saturday Night Live — the same place he met his wife, Scarlett Johansson, in 2006.

The couple began dating in 2017 and got engaged about two years later. The SNL writer and Marvel star tied the knot in 2020, and they welcomed their son, Cosmo, the following year.

Johansson also shares a daughter, Rose, with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac. In July 2024, Jost told The New York Times that he enjoyed seeing the Black Widow actress parent her then-toddler.

“I think part of the reason I fell in love with her is she’s a great mom,” he said. “I’ve known Rose, my stepdaughter, since she was 2. It’s weird. You get to actually preview someone as a mom.”

Bowen Yang returns for season 51 of SNL, his seventh run on the live comedy show. He’s also single, telling PEOPLE that his relationship status is due to the demands of his career.

“The new season of SNL, I’m just like, ‘Oh, right. My time isn’t my own,’ ” the Wicked actor said in April 2025. “People that I’ve gone a couple solid dates with, I’m like, ‘Hey, it’s not for lack of interest. My time is really slipping away from me and I’m so sorry and it’s not a you thing, it’s a me thing.’ “

Making her SNL debut during season 51, Veronika Slowikowska is known for her internet comedy sketches with her boyfriend, Kyle Chase.

While it was unclear for a period of time whether the pair were romantically involved or if their dynamic was simply acting for their internet bit, Slowikowska and Chase confirmed they are indeed dating during a June 2025 conversation with Cosmopolitan.

“We were friends for a year and a half before we started dating,” Chase shared. “It was like, ‘Do we risk it all?’ Which was scary because we had a great friendship going.”

Slowikowska added, “It was terrifying. But there was so much tension that we had to make a decision. And then, yeah, we got drunk on tequila and kissed.”
