An urgent recall has been issued for baking products found across all Irish supermarkets due to the presence of plastic.

The recall from the FSAI has been made for desiccated coconut products sold in supermarkets including Dunnes, Aldi, Tesco and SuperValu. All products originated from Indonesia.

All retailers are being told to remove the products from sale. Wholesalers are being advised to contact customers affected. Caterers are being told not to use the products, while customers are being urged not to eat them.

All the affected products have an expiry date in 2026. They include:

The FSAI said: “The implicated batches of Desiccated Coconut are being recalled due to the possible presence of pieces of plastic. Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.”
