It’s the latest step in the complete redevelopment of the former Glass Bottle site in Dublin 4The 20-storey hotel towers over the proposed Poolbeg site
A major 20-storey hotel has been approved for the redevelopment of the Glass Bottle site at Poolbeg.
The regeneration of the site is aiming to create a 37-acre neighbourhood that includes housing and cultural use. Now the next step of that development has been fully approved until March 2030.
It will include the construction of a 228 bedroom hotel on lands within the former Irish Glass Bottle and Fabrizia sites at Poolbeg West. The development was part of an overall plan to regenerate the Dublin 4 area that was approved almost a decade ago.
The landmark hotel tower will be 20 storeys high. There were concerns raised by the council planners, which led to the request for additional information.
The additional information related to the facade design of the building, which initially had a “lack of rhythm”. There were also questions raised surrounding the access to the site, the bicycle compound and the EV parking spaces.
The development was approved by Dublin City Council on September 30. In its decision, DCC sought no major amendments to the overall development.
