Liverpool face a challenging task in their bid to end a four-game losing streak as they travel to Germany to take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League this week.

A first home league defeat to Manchester United in a decade extended the Reds’ miserable run, leaving head coach Arne Slot under pressure to steady the ship after a summer of significant investment.

Their poor form also includes a loss away to Galatasaray, despite opening their European campaign with a narrow win over Atletico Madrid on matchday one.

Slot will be well aware that further dropped points at this stage could prove costly.

The match marks a quick return to Frankfurt for forward Hugo Ekitike, who joined the Reds from the Bundesliga side during the summer.

Frankfurt, meanwhile, have endured a dip in form of their own following a strong start to the season, losing three and drawing one of their last five matches.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Liverpool is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off on Wednesday, at Deutsche Bank Park.

Liverpool’s pre-match press conference, which was due to feature Arne Slot and a member of his squad upon arrival in Germany on Tuesday, has been cancelled.

A club statement read: “Liverpool’s pre-match press conference for the Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt has been cancelled.

“Arne Slot and a member of his squad were set to speak to the media at Deutsche Bank Park upon arrival in Germany on Tuesday evening.

“However, a delay in the Reds squad’s scheduled flight out to Frankfurt, due to technical issues with the aircraft, means the briefing will now not be able to take place.”

The Liverpool squad remain at John Lennon Airport, with their flight to Germany yet to depart.
