The inflation rate now is back down to about 2pc, the Taoiseach has told the Dáil – despite grocery prices recording 6.5pc inflation last month.

Micheál Martin further told TDs: “The IMF (International Monetary Fund) is saying, in Ireland’s case, that inflation over the next two years, will come down to about 1.7pc.”
