Over €850k worth of cigarettes seized in Co Offaly

Gardaí and Revenue have seized more than 900,000 cigarettes with an estimated retail value of over €850,000.

Searches of two properties were carried out in Edenderry and Rhode in Co Offaly today.

Gardaí say they recovered 906,000 cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €858,500 during the searches.

Revenue customs officers have seized the cigarettes which have been taken for further examination.

Investigations are ongoing.
