If you’re looking for something to pass the time during that strange period between Christmas and New Year’s, then ITVX has got you covered. Brittany Snow‘s “raunchy” drama The Hunting Wives will be arriving on the streaming service on 27 December – giving you another reason to stay snuggled up on the sofa as you recover from the Boxing Day sales.

The series follows Sophie O’Neil, a wife and mother whose idyllic life in Boston was turned upside down following a traumatic incident. Eager for a fresh start, her husband Graham moves their family to East Texas, but Sophie’s “spiralling anxiety” makes it difficult for her to settle in.

Things begin to change when Sophie strikes up a friendship Margo Banks, the mysterious and magnetic wife of Graham’s boss Jed.

What to Read Next

“Sophie soon finds herself enmeshed with Margo and thrust into the extravagant lives of her exclusive inner circle of privileged, affluent girlfriends, known as the Hunting Wives,” reads the synopsis.

“Both tantalising forces unlock Sophie’s deepest desires and forgotten needs. But when a local young woman is murdered, sending shock waves throughout their small community, Sophie, Margo, and the Hunting Wives find themselves entangled in the mystery.

“As they try to protect their own, the group starts to question what they think they see, and nothing prepares Sophie for what is about to happen next.”

The series features Pitch Perfect‘s Snow in the lead role, opposite X-Men actor Evan Jonigkeit (Graham). They are joined by 27 Dresses star Malin Åkerman (Margo) and Dermot Mulroney (Jed), known for his roles in Friends, Shameless US, Chicago Fire and New Girl.

The Hunting Wives debuted its first season earlier this year and currently boasts a 76% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes from 25 reviews.

NPR described the show as “silly”, “raunchy” and “high drama”, adding: “But if it’s up your alley, you might find it a pretty well-executed bit of summer entertainment.”

“The characters are types, but the actors fill them out well, and the dynamic between Margo and Sophie really is … dynamic,” wrote Los Angeles Times, while The Daily Beast called it: “An eminently watchable beach read-y affair that makes up for its lack of originality with bold, brash red-state attitude.”

The Hunting Wives will stream on ITVX on 27 December.
