The community in Barraduff and Glenflesk will gather this weekend to say their final goodbye to the late Padraig (Paudie) O’ Rahilly who died following a tragic accident in the River Flesk earlier this week.
The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon August 12, when Paudie, aged in his 20’s, got into difficulty in the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tributes have flowed in for the young man who comes from a respected family in the community. He lived in Headford, Glenflesk and played with Glenflesk GAA club.
Glenflesk GAA paid tribute to Mr O’Rahilly.
“Paudie lined out with the club at all levels from underage up to Senior winning East Kerry Junior League and Bill Tangney Cup titles.
“A long lasting memory from the 2018 E.K. campaign is Paudie’s left legged goal v Legion, a bullet to the top corner the recounting of which he relished,” the club said.
“In 2022 he was a member of the Glenflesk Div 6 team that won promotion to Div 5 in the Credit Union Senior County League.
“Paudie was a popular team mate on all his teams, he loved the game of football and his enthusiasm on the field endeared him to all,” the club said.
They said they extended their heartfelt condolences to Margaret, Liam, Valerie, Maureen, Nathan and all his family and friends.
His funeral arrangements have now been announced. Rosary will take place on Saturday evening at 8pm in Murphy’s funeral home Barraduff. He will repose at Murphy’s Funeral home Barraduff on Sunday evening from 5pm to 7.30pm, removal at 7.30pm to the Sacred Heart Church, Barraduff.
Requiem mass on Monday at 11am, burial afterwards in Kilquane cemetery.
