After more than a year since HONOR’s first ever flippy smartphone, the Chinese brand finally reveals the Magic V Flip2.

Breaking some records

The headlining feature of the newest HONOR Magic V Flip2 has got to be its massive 5500mAh “Qinghai Lake” battery.

While that may not sound a lot among 2025 smartphones, it’s actually the biggest in any flip phone so far.

For reference, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip7 only has 4300mAh — and HONOR offers more than double of that.

Even last year’s Magic V Flip has a 4800mAh capacity, which is still bigger than what Samsung has equipped.

Meanwhile, its latest Chinese rival, the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2, has 5165mAh of the same Si/C tech.

It doesn’t stop there, though. HONOR also breaks another record in terms of charging speeds.

The Magic V Flip2 is capable of topping up with its speedy 80W HONOR SuperCharge wired charging. This beats TECNO PHANTOM V Flip2’s 70W record from last year.

Its predecessor and closer counterparts only max out between 66W to 68W utmost.

Moreover, HONOR finally adds wireless charging support of up to 50W — like Xiaomi’s MIX Flip 2.

Another record-breaking feat is the inclusion of a 200MP f/1.9 main camera.

For reference, most cameras are capped at having 50MP shooters.

Speaking of, it has a 120-degree 50MP f/2.0 UWA (Ultra-Wide Angle) lens.

Unfortunately, its flash unit still stays at the other side of the device. Flash-filled photos will still be impossible if you prop it in flex mode.

Selfie camera inside is also a 50MP shooter with an f/2.0 lens opening.

Lastly, the Magic V Flip2 boasts dual IP58 and IP59 water and dust resistance ratings for utmost durability. Last year’s model doesn’t have any ingress protection.

Fashion-Forward FlagFlip

All the good stuff of the Magic V Flip still remains on the second iteration. Most probably, its 4.0-inch OLED 120Hz cover screen.

When unfolded, it has a 6.82-inch LTPO OLED display that reaches up to 5000 nits of peak brightness. It also supports 1.07 Billion Colors and has 100% DCI-P3 Wide Color Gamut.

Both screens also have eye-care features with PWM Dimming up to 4320Hz (inner) and 3840Hz (outer).

While the Magic V Flip2 is barely indistinguishable beside its older brother, it rocks four new captivating colors.

Headlining that is none other than the shiny and shimmering Dreamweaver Blue colorway in collaboration with the luxury brand Jimmy Choo.

That’s then joined by Dawn Purple alongside classier Moonlight White and Titanium Gray options.

While it’s thinner at 6.95mm when unfolded (V Flip is at 7.15mm), overall thickness measures 15.5mm — making it a tad thicker versus last year’s 14.89mm.

The second-gen Magic V Flip also uses a tougher UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) that can withstand up to 350,000 folds. HONOR boldly claims it will still look good as new after 5 years of use.

Other flagship-grade hardware are found in this Flip: 2023’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with either 12 or 16GB of onboard memory and choices between 256GB, 512GB or 1TB storage.

Software-wise, it runs MagicOS 9.0.1 based on Android 15. As expected, it features all the new magical AI features such as Magic Portal, AI Image to Video, AI Eraser, Reflection Remover, Live Translation, Face-to-Face Translation, Writing Tools, Deepfake Detection, and many more in the list.

Additionally, HONOR features cute pet palm covers — much like how Xiaomi introduced it in the first-gen MIX Flip.

Their names as Meme (cat), Tutu (marmot) Popy (dog), Nite (owl), Lolo (monkey), Jojo, (eggplant), and Luck (cloud).
