Celtic secured booked their place in the Premier Sports Cup final in dramatic fashion this afternoon, overcoming old rivals Rangers after extra-time at Hampden Park.
It was a dramatic game, one in which Celtic really should have won in regulation time. They would take the lead via a Johnny Kenny header in the 25th minute, before Rangers midfielder Thelo Aasgaard received a staight red card before the interval.
While it was expected that Celtic would win comfortably from that point, that certainly was not the case. After they missed numerous chances, Rangers would score an unlikely equaliser from the penalty spot in the 81st minute.
However, goals from Callum McGregor and Callum Osmand in extra-time would ensure that the Scottish champions secured their place in the final.

I was 73 on Monday, and I’m 94 now…
It was end to end. Part of me enjoyed that, believe it or not. That’s the way it goes, they’re going forward. Sometimes when I thought we would have a little break, Kasper [Schmeichel] gets hold of it and tosses it out quickly to somebody who’s absolutely knackered!
It was a great effort, fantastic. I’m delighted obviously that we won…
I shall take no credit whatsoever. I came in here at the end of it. We have a couple of young players who probably don’t know what it’s all about, and we’ve got some serial winners in there. That’s really important.
The backroom staff for me have been really terrific. I couldn’t have seen this.
I thought you were going to ask me did I enjoy it. Not one minute…
I don’t even know when the final is. December 14th? On a serious note, there is a fortnight break now after next week. I think the club would be making inroads into getting someone in…
Maybe ask me that (if he wants to stay longer) tomorrow. Today, no!
They got me a tracksuit. I’ve got these really tight (pants). I look like Robin Hood! I like the wider ones believe it or not, I’m more comfortable in them.
It will be hoped that this result can inject a bit of life into what has been a rather underwhelming Celtic season up to this point, with Martin O’Neill having lifted the mood in the dressing room after his unexpected return to the club.
While it remains to be seen how long O’Neill sticks around for, victories such as the one today will certainly mean that the supporters will have no issue with seeing the former Hoops boss in the dugout for the foreseeable future.
