Motorists are reporting huge traffic delays on the N7 near the Dublin/Kildare border following a serious crash which gardaí say has involved multiple vehicles.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the N7 westbound at Rathcoole in Co Dublin.

The collision, involving a number of vehicles, occurred at approximately 6.40pm this evening, Friday, August 22.

The road is closed and westbound traffic is being diverted at Junction 2 (Kingswood).

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use the N81 and N4, where possible, re-joining the N7 at Kill/Johnstown.

Gardaí say no further details are available at this time.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing an articulated lorry flip onto its side on the N7 outside the Applegreen Service Station at Rathcoole.

It’s not yet known if anyone has been seriously injured.
