Very sad to see this happening
The event was due to take place in Monroe’s
Fans of Red Hot Chili Peppers will be left disappointed today after it was announced that the tribute band Red Hot Funky Peppers will cancel their upcoming Galway gig.
The band were scheduled to play in Monroe’s on Friday November 21.
However, they have now had to cancel their performance due to low pre-sales.
They apologised to anyone who has already bought a ticket and made plans to travel.
Refunds will be issued.
They were set to play a tribute show to Red Hot Chili Peppers’ iconic 2003 Slane concert.
In a post on social media, they said: “It is with deep regret that due to low pre-sales, we have no option but to cancel our Red Hot Funky Peppers – Slane 2003 Revisited show this Friday 21st November at Monroe’s, Galway.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused to those who had bought tickets and made your plans to join us on Friday. Thanks so much for your support.
“We’ve had some amazing nights with you in Galway, unfortunately we (and pretty much all other bands and venues) need tickets to be bought in advance in order to ensure shows like this can go ahead.
“Refunds will be issued in due course.”
In other music news, the first act to play in next year’s Galway Big Top Arts Festival has been announced.
The 2026 Galway International Arts Festival will run from July 13 – 26.
And the festival’s first big act has been announced, as James is set to play the Heineken Big Top on July 23 2026.
The official festival website said: “For over four decades, the Manchester legends have created the anthems that have defined generations, from the euphoric Sit Down and the ecstatic Laid to soaring classics like Come Home, She’s A Star and Born of Frustration. Their songs – poetic, spiritual and joyously alive – have soundtracked countless moments of collective release.
“Fresh from their sold-out recent UK arena tour and headline performances at Glastonbury, Rock in Rio and Vive Latino, James arrive at the Festival in unstoppable form for a special performance at the Heineken Big Top.
“Renowned for their electrifying, unpredictable live shows, where hits are reborn, crowds become choirs and frontman Tim Booth dances like a man possessed, James continue to prove that their connection with audiences runs deeper than ever.
“Their latest album Yummy (2024), which debuted at No.1 in the UK, captures a band still evolving: bold, compassionate and brilliantly inventive.
“Expect a night of transcendence, nostalgia and communal euphoria as one of rock’s most enduring and beloved live acts take the stage.
“A night to sing, dance and lose yourself – together.”
