Sherri Shepherd‘s 20-year-old son apparently got the surprise of a lifetime when his mom hugged him from behind, the talk show host revealed.
The current Sherri star and former The View cohost livened up Thursday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Mark when she opened up about a particularly awkward moment she shared with her son, Jeffrey.
Shepherd first reflected on her home life with Jeffrey, indicating that he’s “eating me out of house and home,” before comically reacting to his verbiage.
“If he calls me ‘bruh’ one more time? Girl, it’s nuts,” the 58-year-old told Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos.

Ripa jumped in to admit that, of the couple’s three children together, “We don’t understand what our youngest son is saying most of the time. It’s a whole separate language.”
Shepherd then reflected on what she suggested were the brighter days of parenting.
“You know what? Here’s the thing. You remember when your son would say, ‘Mommy, you’re so pretty! Mommy, I want to marry you!’ None of that,” Shepherd said. “He’s like, ‘Bruh, why you in my room?'”
Shepherd then revealed an awkward exchange with Jeffrey when she attempted to show her son some affection.
“I tried to hug him. That’s my baby. I was so proud of him. But, I tried to hug him from behind because I felt this burst of love,” recalled Shepherd. “And I hugged him and he goes, ‘Ah! Breasts on back! Awkward! Don’t do it anymore!”
The actress said that her “self-esteem was on the floor” after the exchange, and that she doesn’t “understand this man-child that I have” now.
Ripa pushed the moment one step further, quipping that, “Meanwhile, Mark wants a hug from behind later on,” eliciting a laugh from her husband before the show went to a commercial break.

Shepherd previously made headlines for thirsting over the adult son of fellow View family member Sunny Hostin during the latter’s appearance on Sherri — a moment The View stars later mocked on the air.

“Sunny, you know when you come over here it’s cougars all over. It is cougars lurking and waiting in their lair,” Shepherd later replied on her own talk show.
