A man in his early 60s has died in a workplace accident in Buncrana.
It is understood that the man passed away after sustaining fatal injuries from being struck by an icebox.
The accident occurred at a haulage transportation company in Umricam on Thursday evening. Emergency services were called to the scene, and the employee was transferred to Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) by ambulance. However, the man died from his injuries this morning.
A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has confirmed that a death occurred at a business premises in Buncrana.
“The HSA is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation. As such, no further information is available at this time.”
The coroner has been notified, and an autopsy will be completed at LUH.

Buncrana Golf Club announced yesterday afternoon that they were postponing their Captain’s Prize this weekend due to the tragic accident.
Posting on their social media channels, the Inishowen Golf Club said that the “Captains Prize due to be played this coming weekend, 23rd and 24th August, has been postponed until further notice, owing to one of our long-time members being involved in a very serious accident.”
“The Captain and the Club’s Committee have decided that it would not be appropriate to continue with this event under these circumstances.”
