Aviva Chiara Mongillo, 27, was a Disney star and released music under her art name Carys – but she said her life has since changed significantly and she now lives with her parents

A former Disney Channel who achieved huge success over the years has admitted she is back living with her parents – but said she “wouldn’t change a thing.”
Aviva Chiara Mongillo is known for her roles as Alya Kendrick in the Family Channel drama series Backstage and Juniper in the CBC sitcom Workin’ Moms. The Disney Channel-associated series Backstage led to Aviva being recognised as a Disney star.
The 27-year-old has also released music under her name Carys – with some of her hits being Princesses Don’t Cry, Bad Boy and No More – after signing to Warner Music Canada. However, Aviva has now admitted that despite her career successes, she is now back living at her parents’ house.

She has taken to TikTok to share a meme about how different her life looks now – but, at the same time, she said she is grateful for what she has and would not want her life to look any different. The actress and musician, smiling at the camera in a red jumper, was seen miming miming to the words: “To be honest, I don’t know what happened but we need a re-do.”
On top of the video, she wrote: “When you were on Disney channel, signed to a major label and had a viral song before the age of 20 and now you’re 27 living with your parents.” However, in the caption she made it clear that she loves her life as it is.
She wrote: “For real though… I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m grateful that this is my life.” Many fans showed their support for Aviva in the comment section with one writing: “Backstage is one of my favorite disney shows ever!!!”

Another said: “I was obsessed with Backstage!!!” A person commented: “Omg my mom and I would stay up all night watching backstage i was in middle school. Does anyone know where I can watch it?”
“NO WAY YOU MADE PRINCESSES DONT CRY. I MADE A TIKTOK DANCE TO THAT SONG IN 2020,” someone else said. “Aviva Mongillo you will always be famous to me,” one more added.

Aviva starred in Backstage from 2016 to 2017, playing the main character, Alya, a talented musician and songwriter at the elite Keaton School of the Arts. She appeared in sixty episodes of the show, often singing and playing the guitar on screen. She also had a recurring role in Working’ Moms from 2018 to 2023.
Her debut album, Songs About Boys, was released in 2017. Her song Princesses Don’t Cry became a huge hit in 2019, going viral social media platforms like TikTok and accumulating over 250 million streams.
