Celtic look to have made some serious progress towards appointing a new permanent manager, with Colombus Crew boss Wilfried Nancy said to be in pole position for the role.
The Frenchman has been mentioned as a possible target for a number of weeks, although the move was complicated y his side’s involvement in the MLS play-offs. However, they would be eliminated by Cincinnati earlier this month.
Nancy has been in charge of the American club since 2022, winning the MLS Cup in 2023. He would also win a Leagues Cup the following season, as well as being named MLS Coach of the Year.
With the 48-year old said to be closing in on an agreement to become the next Celtic manager, it could also see an Ireland native join him in Glasgow.

Former Ireland U21 International Set To Join Celtic Staff
The Herald are reporting that Wilfried Nancy is keen to bring his current Colombus Crew staff with him to Celtic, a group that includes a former Ireland U21 international.
Kwame Ampadu was born in Bradford to a Ghanaian father and Irish mother, before moving back to Dublin at a young age where he was subsequently raised. Having played for the likes of Sherrard United and Belvedere before joining Arsenal as a teenager.
Ampadu would go on to earn four caps for Ireland at U21 level and have a long career in English football. His son Ethan Ampadu has gone on to play for Wales and is currently the captain of Leeds United.
The 54-year old made his coaching breakthrough in the Exeter City academy, before having roles at Arsenal, Monaco, and CF Montreal. He first crossed paths with Nancy in Montreal before following him to Colombus Crew.
It looks as though their partnership is now set to continue in Glasgow. It is said that Celtic’s negotiations with Nancy are at an advanced stage, with an announcement possibly set to follow over the coming days.
