Planning permission has been granted for a four-storey block in Letterkenny containing 22 apartments.

Donegal County Council gave the go-ahead to Brian Brogan for the development at Carnamuggagh Lower (Mountain Top), adjacent to the George Boal Roundabout.

The proposed complex will also include a communal roof terrace, lower level car parking and bicycle parking, and a toddlers play area.

There were a number of objections to the application.

The Ballaghderg/Curraghleas Residents ‘strongly’ opposed the development, saying it was ‘totally out of character’ due to its height. They added it would add to ‘traffic chaos’ at the busy roundabout.

The Mountain View Residents Association also argued the proposed apartment block would add to traffic congestion and that it was of ‘disproportionate scale’.

However, council planners decided to grant permission subject to a number of conditions.
