Ryan Reynolds’ son Olin is definitely, maybe a fan of one of his parents’ most panned films.

The Deadpool actor revealed that his and wife Blake Lively’s 2-year-old can’t get enough of the couple’s 2011 movie Green Lantern, which notoriously underperformed at the box office.

“You laugh, but my son, it’s his favorite movie and he watches it every f–king day,” Ryan said during a recent appearance at The Wall Street Journal’s CMO Council Summit. “Do you understand the work I’ve had to do to get to the place where I can just pass by that screen and not go, ‘Well, we could have [done that differently]?’”

Despite the potential to cringe at his past work, the Proposal actor—also dad to daughters James, 10, Inez, 9, and Betty, 6, with Blake—sees the DC Comics movie as an opportunity to reflect on how he has grown professionally. As he noted, “That was a time in my life when I was, ‘Yes, sir. No, sir. How high can I jump, sir?’”

Plus, Ryan relishes the chance to teach his kids about life through what he calls his “failures.”

“My kids, all they see is a winner,” he continued. “When I go outside, I get pats in the back and it’s a selfie parade, and I oblige everyone pretty much. My kids only see that. So, I’ve learned lately to make sure [I am] talking about the failures and how that is literally the base and ingredient for everything else.”

But while Ryan is quick to let his kids in on the lessons he’s learned from his public-facing career, he’s also been vocal about the superhero strength it takes to parent a son.

“Three girls—just so easy,” the 49-year-old explained during an October appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. “And then the boy, who’s gotta break everything.”

He added, “I’m, like, in direct competition with this young man.”

In fact, Ryan joked that he and Blake “would never” have had a fourth child if they had welcomed three boys first.

“There’s no way,” he quipped. “I would give myself a punching vasectomy. There’s no way I would allow that to happen.”

Beyond the life lessons and reigns of terror, Ryan and Blake have built a lovely life as a family of six. Read on to look back at their journey to becoming parents of four kids.
