A bin collection company operating in Dublin and Galway has notified some customers of a price increase coming into effect from the beginning of next year.

City Bin Co will increase its prices by up to €2.50 per month in 2026, or €30 per year.

The increase will come into effect from January 1

City Bin serves more than 50,000 residential commercial customers across Dublin and Galway city.

The company offers three price plans for households, with 30kg, 42kg and 65kg monthly allowances for general waste on offer.

The cheapest plan currently costs €22.50 per month in Dublin, followed by €26.49 per month for the middle plan and €30.49 for the most expensive option.

Each of the three plans is slightly cheaper in Galway at €21 per month, €23.40 per month and €27.49 per month respectively.

The cost increase for each customer is likely to depend on which price plan they are on.

City Bin customers get one month free when they opt to pay for the year up front in full.

The company last increased prices in April 2023 when costs for customers on annual price plans rose.

That came after customers paying monthly were hit with hikes of €2 per month on average in December 2022.

The latest increase from City Bin marks the first time a bin collection company has raised prices since Panda Recycling, the largest company in the sector, hiked its prices in January of this year. Panda serves more than 300,000 customers across the country.

That move came just months after Greyhound Recycling also increased its prices.

City Bin was contacted for comment.
