Byron Bowers to play Doorman in Marvel’s Wonder Man
Marvel Studios is expanding its lineup of mutants on screen, with Byron Bowers set to portray DeMarr Davis, better known as Doorman, in the upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man. His casting was confirmed in the Winter 2025 issue of Disney’s D23 Magazine, teasing the character’s first live-action appearance. (via The Direct)
Doorman was introduced in West Coast Avengers No. 46 in 1989. He is an ordinary man who responds to a classified ad seeking “costumed adventurers.” His powers allow him to become intangible and enable others to pass through walls and structures. He is usually shown in a minimalist black suit with white gloves, boots, a cape, and a mask featuring diamond-shaped eye openings.
In the comics, Doorman often works along with the Great Lakes Avengers, a rotating lineup that has included characters such as Squirrel Girl, Flatman, Mr. Immortal, and even Hawkeye and Deadpool during various runs. As of now, Marvel Studios has not confirmed whether the team itself will appear.
Wonder Man is scheduled to launch on January 27, 2026, as Marvel Studios’ first project of the year and an early release in Phase 6. The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, with Sir Ben Kingsley also returning to the role of Trevor Slattery. It follows Williams as he navigates the ups and downs of Hollywood while trying to secure the lead role in a superhero film.
Bowers’ Doorman joins a growing line of MCU mutants making their way onto screens. Namor previously identified himself as a mutant in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and several legacy X-Men actors are set to return in Avengers: Doomsday.
