This could turn out to be some opening week as Celtic’s new manager for Wilfried Nancy.

On Sunday, Celtic could go to the top of the Premiership table by beating leaders Hearts, before trying to boost their Europa League hopes at home to AS Roma, and then the League Cup final against St Mirren.

If all goes well, it will be some introduction for Nancy, who moves to Glasgow from Columbus Crew with a lot of people rating his work in the MLS.

One man who has lived in North America since retiring is Kevin Kilbane, and he reacted to Nancy being unveiled by Celtic after watching him closely.

Those Stateside might not understand the enormity of Celtic or the pressure cooker Nancy has landed himself into, but Kilbane certainly does.

The former Republic of Ireland international stated on social media that this is a ‘big step’ for the Frenchman, but he praised the work he has done in his two jobs – CF Montréal and Crew.

‘Good luck. Has done great things in North America. A big step, but an excellent coach,’ wrote Kilbane on social media.

Ex-USMNT international says ‘every’ Nancy game was ‘enjoyable to watch’

One of the constant things Celtic have been told about Nancy is his vibrant style of play, with Thierry Henry’s former assistant preferring a 3-4-3 formation.

Whether Nancy can deploy that in such a small space of time remains to be seen, with former USMNT international Taylor Twellman stating that ‘every’ game under his stewardship at Crew was ‘enjoyable to watch.’

‘Good luck, Wilfried. Many fans will be watching closely as you made every @ColumbusCrew game enjoyable to watch,’ wrote Twellman on social media.
