A large haul of firearms was discovered north of Cork city this morning as Gardaí looked into reports of illegal dumping in the area.
Officers attached to the Watergrasshill Garda Station were searching woodland at Templemichael when they uncovered the cache earlier today. The weapons will be subject to analysis as authorities continue to probe the circumstances of the dumping. No arrest have yet been made in connection with the firearms.
A photograph shared by An Garda Síochána this evening showed several officers searching a wooded area at the side of a road with at least one Garda dog on-scene.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí attached to Watergrasshill Garda Station conducted a search of a wooded area at Templemichael, Co. Cork this morning Thursday 4th December 2025 as part of ongoing investigations into reports of illegal dumping at the location.
“As a result, a significant number of firearms has been recovered. All firearms will be subject to further technical and ballistic analysis. No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing.”
