Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street star Pauline McLynn has promised a “life-changing” reveal in Will Driscoll’s grooming story. Viewers will know that Will is being groomed by predator Megan Walsh, with the storyline set to take a horrifying turn this month.
In upcoming scenes, Megan, who is Will’s former athletics coach, will manipulate the teenager into sleeping with her for the first time. While Will’s family, including his grandmother Maggie, played by McLynn, are currently unaware of what has been happening to Will, it looks as though this might change soon.
Asked how the Driscoll family matriarch has remained in the dark over what is going on with Will and Megan, McLynn said she has a blind spot when it comes to her grandson.
“She has a particular blind spot when it comes to the youngest grandchild, Will,” she said. “I suppose it’s such an unexpected thing to happen in any family that I think that’s why nobody has found out.”

On how the family will feel when they do eventually uncover the truth, McLynn said: “They’ll be completely blindsided, because it’s the sort of wicked thing that you really don’t expect.”
Describing Megan’s character, McLynn added: “Also, Megan is a consummate liar and manipulator. Beth [Nixon], who plays her, describes her as a dangerous narcissist and very, very clever at manipulating people.
“Because she looks so innocent and young herself, there’s no way anyone is seeing anything glaring, if it’s there at all.”
Speaking about what’s to come when the secret is finally out, the former Father Ted actor said that the reveal will mark a turning point on the soap.

“They’ve had some near misses,” she said, adding: “When the truth comes out I honestly think it’s going to be life-changing for everyone.”
We’ve already seen how fiercely protective Maggie can be towards her son Ben and her grandsons Will and Ollie, so we can only imagine how Maggie will react when she finds out what Megan has been doing to Will.
Meanwhile, Maggie is set to get a special flashback episode next week, which will reveal her dark past.
Coronation Street has worked on Will and Megan’s grooming storyline with support from Barnardo’s. Support and information is available via the charity’s website.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
