Nothing’s latest release is the Phone (3a) Community Edition, a limited release of its excellent budget phone that packs some hardware and software tweaks created by fans, but this is also the first Nothing Phone with frosted glass on the back.

The new Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition takes the base design of Phone (3a) and sees modifications from winners who helped build out the hardware design changes, unique accessories, and software changes.

Starting with the hardware, Emre Kayganacl created a concept where Phone (3a) gets a splash of color that flashes back to early 2000s tech. The translucent vibrant blue is accented by green and purple elements, with a white border around the edges. That updated glass is also frosted/matte, a first for Nothing, as other Nothing Phone devices have been exclusively using glossy glass or plastic finishes.

In the software, Jad Zock helped design a new lock screen clock to go with that aesthetic, and a wallpaper to match too. Ambrogio Tacconi & Louis Aymond then came up with a fun accessory, a dice game that has Nothing’s signature font and a neat little case that resembles the frosted glass on the Phone (3a) Community Edition.
