Netflix’s upcoming “seductive and twisty” series His & Hers starring Tessa Thompson has just released its first trailer.

Also featuring The Bear star Jon Bernthal, the six-episode series follows Anna Andrews and Jack Harper, two Georgia residents who are connected to a shocking murder.

Based on the novel that “keeps you guessing all the way through” by Alice Feeney (via Amazon), the series sees field reporter Anna (Thompson) go back to her hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, when police find a woman murdered in the woods. Meanwhile, detective Jack (Bernthal) leads the investigation.

The trailer reveals Anna and Jack are married and estranged, as one suspects the other and questions their motives in the murder case.

“There are two sides to every story. Ours and theirs. Yours and mine. His and hers,” Anna says in a voiceover. “Which means someone is always lying.”

The series is developed by William Oldroyd, who directed Florence Pugh’s breakout movie, Lady Macbeth.

The cast for His & Hers also includes Pablo Schreiber as Anna’s cameraperson Richard and Crystal Fox as Anna’s mother Alice, who still lives in Dahlonega.

Sunita Mani plays Jack’s police partner Priya while Rebecca Rittenhouse portrays Lexy Jones, an ambitious journalist who got the anchorwoman position after Anna left. Marin Ireland, Poppy Liu and Chris Bauer also star.

Executive produced by Thompson and with Nashville’s Dee Jones as showrunner, His & Hers is set to premiere on Netflix on 8 January.

Speaking on the project in October, Thompson said she was “hooked” after a conversation with Oldroyd.

“I am beyond elated to be collaborating with a filmmaker I have long admired and an incredible team to make a fresh offering in a genre that I can never get enough of,” the star told Tudum.

“From the second I heard what Will was imagining doing with Alice Feeney’s brilliant book to the moment I visited the town where our story is set, I was hooked.”

His & Hers premieres on Netflix on 8 January 2026.
