The first 100 Nights of Hero trailer is here – and it’s freaky. (IFC Films/ YouTube)
The first trailer for the film adaptation of 100 Nights of Hero features a shirtless Nicholas Galitzine covered in blood, Emma Corrin trapped in a queer love triangle and Brat-in-chief Charli XCX
Based on the beloved graphic novel of the same name by Isabel Greenberg, the first look at the Julia Jackman-directed 100 Nights of Hero sees He-Man star Nicholas Galitzine (mercifully) shirtless, and once again behaving badly and seducing royalty.
The novel is inspired by the legendary collection of folk tales One Thousand and One Nights, and centres on two women in love, Cherry (Maika Monroe) and Hero (Emma Corrin).
While it’s unclear how close the plot of the film will follow that of the novel, Galitzine will play houseguest Manfred, who sets his sights on Cherry after she is told that if she fails to become pregnant after 101 nights, she will “not see next spring”.
As seen in the trailer, there’s all sorts going on – and thankfully, Galitzine has his kit off for a lot of it.
Brat superstar Charli XCX is also seen in the 100 Nights of Hero trailer, strumming some sort of fantastical musical instrument in what could be a dream sequence. She will play the role of Rosa, and it’s her film debut.
Cherry is seen getting it on with Manfred (and leaning in to smooch Hero), with the three caught in an awkward and potentially deadly love triangle.
Galitzine, Monroe, Corrin and XCX will be joined by Saltburn‘s Richard E. Grant as Birdman, Amir El-Masry as Jerome, Felicity Jones as ‘Moon / the Narrator’ and Safia Oakley-Green as ‘kiddo’. Christopher Fairbank is Beaked Brother Charles.
“100 Nights of Hero watches as a charming houseguest arrives at a remote castle and the delicate dynamic between a neglectful husband, his innocent bride Cherry, and their devoted maid Hero is thrown into chaos,” the film’s official synopsis reads.
A first look at the film was released in July.
100 Nights of Hero will have its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, 6 September. It is scheduled to be released in the United States 5 December.
