English Sophie Ellis-Bextor was spotted on Monday morning filming a music video in the south Kerry’s Cahersiveen.

The 46-year-old singer, who achieved worldwide fame with her 2001 song Murder on the Dancefloor, was filming in Mike Murts bar on New Market St in the town on Monday.

Mike himself spoke to The Kerryman on Monday evening about the singer’s presence in his pub and said that from his brief interaction with her, she was pleasant to deal with.

“She was there doing a video for one of her songs. She was grand out. I didn’t do much talking with her now but she was there doing her thing for about two or three hours and they seemed happy enough with it,” he said.

The singer was also spotted filming aboard the Valentia Car Ferry as well, indicating that a large portion, if not potentially all of the music video, could be filmed in Kerry.

Murder on the Dancefloor came roaring back into popularity in 2023 following it featuring in the 2023 hit film Saltburn which starred Ireland’s very Barry Keoghan. Her new album ‘Perimenopop’ is set to be released next month.
